Refund Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
Seven days free before you pay, and a full 14-day right to change your mind after you do. The open-source core is free and is not covered here.
1. What you are buying
The Troth app is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. You pay once, receive twelve (12) months of updates, and the version you have keeps working after that. There are no recurring charges.
2. You can try it before you pay
Troth is free to use for seven days before any charge. The best time to find out whether it fits how you work is during those seven days, on your own machine, with your own work — not from a refund form afterwards.
3. EU/EEA right of withdrawal: you keep it
If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you have 14 days from the day the contract is concluded to withdraw from your purchase, without giving a reason.
The law lets a seller switch that right off for immediately-supplied digital content, but only by asking you at checkout to consent to immediate supply and to acknowledge that you are giving the right up. We do not ask you for that at checkout, so the right stands in full. If you withdraw in time you get your money back, including any standard delivery cost, within 14 days of telling us.
To withdraw, email hello@troth.one within the 14 days. Any clear statement is enough; if you would rather use a set form, this is sufficient: "I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the purchase of the Troth app. Ordered on: [date]. Order or receipt number: [number]. Name: [your name]. Date: [today]."
We will confirm your withdrawal in writing and refund to the original payment method.
4. Refunds for genuine problems, wherever you are
Separately from any statutory right, and wherever you live: if the App does not work as described, cannot be activated, or has a defect we cannot resolve, contact us within 14 days of purchase and we will work with you and, where appropriate, refund you.
What a refund does not cover: costs charged by someone else. Troth has no AI of its own, so your Claude, ChatGPT, or API charges are between you and that provider, and problems caused by your own hardware or by a third-party service are not defects in the App.
5. Effect of a refund on your license
Your license activates online and re-checks periodically. If a purchase is refunded or a payment is reversed (including a chargeback), the license is marked refunded and the paid app stops unlocking at its next online check. You must then stop using the paid app and delete all copies of it.
The open-source Troth core is not affected by any of this. It is free under the AGPL, it does not check a license, and a refund does not take it away from you.
6. How to ask
Email hello@troth.one with your order number and, if something is broken, what happened. We aim to respond within a few business days, and a human reads it.
7. Statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence, including your rights if digital content is faulty or not as described.
